Impact of Giving Day on LJS Students

Fund a Year of Life-Changing Experiences for LJS Students on Giving Day
For many Lipscomb students, the Law, Justice & Society (LJS) program provides more than just an education—it offers transformative experiences that shape their futures. From Moot Court and Mock Trial competitions to immersive trips to Washington, D.C., and international justice initiatives, LJS students gain hands-on learning that prepares them for impactful careers.
But for some, financial barriers stand in the way. Many of these opportunities come with out-of-pocket costs that make participation difficult. No student should have to step back from these pivotal experiences because of financial limitations.
That’s why on February 20, 2025, we are calling on our community to rally together and fund a full year of LJS student experiences in just one day. Every dollar given ensures that no student has to choose between financial security and professional growth.
A First Flight, A First Trip, A Future Unlocked
For many LJS students, these trips mark their first time flying or their first journey out of the state. Stepping onto a plane to argue in a courtroom setting or engaging with policymakers in
Washington, D.C., isn’t just an academic exercise—it’s a life-changing moment that opens their eyes to new possibilities and career paths.
A young alumnus, Nick Ingold ('23) traveled to Washington D.C., Europe and across the nation with Mock Trial in his college years. Ingold shared these travel opportunities may be the "best-kept secret on Lipscomb's campus."
"This department gave me the opportunity to fly for the first time in my freshman year and leave the country for the first time in my senior year. The friends I made on these trips are still in my life today! Our professors clearly connected the themes of our department to policies and communities around the globe. I never expected to travel so much as a college student, but I had the chance to do it with my closest friends and mentors. These trips are formative experiences that I wish every college student could have." - Nick Ingold ('23)
Junior Jackson Francis recognizes the importance of local site visits, like those to the Tennessee State Capitol and Washington D.C., as they offer a firsthand look at how law shapes both the state and the nation. Inspired by these experiences, Francis is driven to pursue a career in law with the ultimate goal of giving back to Tennesseans. "The impact of law on our daily lives motivates me to keep pushing forward and working hard," he says.
