Watts receives scholarship from the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers

 |

The Lipscomb University engineering program has once again been recognized for excellence in the classroom, as one of its students has been recognized by the Middle Tennessee engineering community.

Elizabeth Watts, a senior engineering students from Murfreesboro, Tenn., recently received the Dorothy and Arthur Crouch Scholarship from the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers. The $2,000 scholarship is one of two scholarships given annually by TSPE.

“I feel so very honored to have been granted this distinction by such a respected society of engineers.  I thank my professors for encouraging me to apply and for their constant example of how a Christian engineer should live and work.  There may be schools nearby with engineering programs, but no other school has the incredible collection of engineering professors that Lipscomb has.  I'm thankful everyday that I chose Lipscomb, the place that provided the experiences that helped to make winning scholarships a possibility,” said Watts.

Watts has been very involved in campus activities at Lipscomb. A member of the concert band and A Cappella Singers, Watts is president of the Lipscomb ASME chapter and has been an intern at Arnold Engineering Development Center in Tullahoma, Tenn.

TSPE is a professional association with more than 1500 individual members including professional (licensed) engineers, engineering associates, engineering interns, and engineering students. TSPE members represent all technical disciplines and all practice areas including construction, education, industry, government, and private practice.
