Lipscomb University recently earned three honors as part of the 2015 Council for Advancement and Support of Education District III annual awards competition.

The College of Entertainment & the Arts was recognized with a Grand Award in the recruitment video category with the “We Graduate Heroes” entry. Produced by filmmaker-in-residence Steve Taylor, the video is a recruiting spot for the college’s graduate film and creative media program.

“Being recognized by an organization comprised of educational institutions from across the Southeast is an indicator that our new cinematic arts and film program is producing students whose creativity and work is among the best in the region and across the country,” said Dave DeBorde, chair of the Department of Cinematic Arts.

The video was also awarded a Gold Addy for "Digital Ad - Video" from the American Advertising Federation Nashville.

The Office of University Communication and Marketing earned two awards. It received the Grand Award in the media relations program category with the entry “Brooks Russell signs with the Bisons.”

Five-year-old Russell, who is battling pediatric brain cancer, “signed” a national letter of intent with the Bison baseball team on national signing day last year. The story made national headlines, including being featured on CNN Headline News, for its unique connection to the college baseball annual signing day activities.

The campaign received the top honor in the category, besting entries submitted in the category by a number of universities including Clemson, Wake Forest, Middle Tennessee State, North Carolina-Ashville and South Carolina.

The university website was one of two university websites recognized with an Award of Excellence in the total website design and organization category. Lipscomb and North Carolina State University both received the Award of Excellence for the quality of the website design and functionality. In October 2013, UCM launched a redesign of the university site.

CASE District III advances and supports educational and professional institutions in the southeastern United States by enhancing the effectiveness of the alumni relations, fund raising, communications, marketing and other advancement professionals who serve them.
