Synergy!, March 5 symposium on serving veterans promotes collaboration

State and federal government agencies, nonprofit veteran service organizations, businesses with veterans programs, community leaders and others will convene at Lipscomb University March 5 for Synergy!
More than 20 organizations from across the Southeast will gather to celebrate services to veterans, service members and their families and to collaborate on best practices and opportunities to create synergy among these organizations and maximize the results for all those served as well as explore ways to better serve these audiences.
This unprecedented collaboration includes such organizations as the United States Veterans Administration, the Tennessee Department of Veteran Affairs, Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Stand-down Nashville, Not Alone, Tennessee National Guard, US Army Recruiting, US Air Force Recruiting, AMVETS, Tennessee Department of Labor and a host of others.
“Synergy! is a unique event specifically designed to improve our communities by assisting and encouraging those who work to enhance the lives of our service members, veterans and their families,” said Jim Humphrey, associate dean of students and director of veterans services at Lipscomb University.
Humphrey said the goal for Synergy! is “to develop an action plan that draws from the unique and specific talents of each organization to ensure better cooperation and coordination of services as we move forward improving our communities by more effectively helping these national treasures.”
“No one single entity —federal, state or private—can provide the variety of service support needed for our military members, veterans and their families. However, I wholeheartedly believe a shared unity of purpose by all these organizations can,” he said.
The symposium begins at noon and concludes at 4:30 p.m. and will take place in Lipscomb’s Ezell Center. Lunch will be provided and all participants will receive two tickets to the fourth annual Charlie Daniels Scholarship for Heroes concert that begins at 7 p.m. that evening.
