Students learn business etiquette during ""Professional Dining Savvy""

 |

Lipscomb University hosted “Professional Dining Savvy,” a training seminar for students on Nov. 3 in Lipscomb’s dining hall. The seminar, led by certified etiquette and protocol consultant, Margaret Ann Pritchard, provided students with business training outside the classroom.

“At Lipscomb, we want to equip our students with skills they will need, not only in the specific area of expertise in which they are studying, but also to be excellent in the day to day, sometimes overlooked matters of business,” said Lisa Shacklett, director of Lipscomb’s career development center. “This dinner is just one way we are working toward that goal, by providing training for students to know the best and most respectful ways to present themselves in a professional dinner setting, learning how to network and interface with other professionals while also learning proper dinner protocol.”

Crowe Chizek and Company LLC, a national accounting firm, and Lipscomb University’s Career Development Center sponsored Thursday’s “Professional Dining Savvy.” Students were selected to participate in this program by faculty and staff at Lipscomb. The event was free for students and each was given a complimentary book.

Pritchard is the founder of Manners & Protocol, LLC, and speaks at numerous engagements, including conferences, workshops, professional organizations and corporate programs. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees from Vanderbilt University, and has been certified and trained by The Protocol School of Washington. She is a member of the International Association of Protocol Consultants.
