This fall construction began on a new residence hall for students.

Villiage II_1_250The Village II is the largest residence hall construction project on campus since the 80,000-square-foot High Rise building was constructed in 1968. The new residence hall will be a 55,000-square-foot facility with 87 units and 174 beds. It will be located near the Village residence hall.

The Office of Student Life is asking for students to help name the new facility, temporarily dubbed “Village II.”

“We want to give students an opportunity to feel a part of this process and to share their creative ideas as we consider a name for this new facility that will be a vital part of the campus community for years to come,” said Sam Smith, dean of student life.

Students may submit their residence hall name suggestions to Smith by emailing sam.smith [at] lipscomb.edu. Submissions will be accepted until student life officials select a name.

Nashville-based Tuck Hinton Architects has designed the building. Construction is expected to be complete in summer 2017.
