The office of veterans services is sponsoring a series of special events on campus to commemorate Veterans Day 2012 and to honor  Lipscomb students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends who have served this country through the military. Activities are free

U.S. Navy Jazz Band, Commodores

6 p.m. – Reception for Veterans and their families, Faculty Club 1891

7:30 p.m. – Concert, Collins Alumni Auditorium

 

Friday, Nov. 9

11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. - Cookout in Bison Square

(Chalk will be available to write a note in the square to those who have served)

6:30 p.m. – Battle of the Boulevard

Veteran students, faculty, staff and their families will be honored during the game.

 

Monday, Nov. 12

11 a.m.-1 p.m.  – Lunch honoring veteran students, faculty and staff. Sponsored by Sodexo. Show your service pride with shirts, pins, patches and insignia.

7 p.m. – “Act of Valor” movie screening in Shamblin Theatre. Sponsored by the Campus Veterans Organization. Click here for a preview.

The office of veterans services oversees Lipscomb University's Yellow Ribbon Program. Since its inception, Lipscomb’s Yellow Ribbon program, now managed by Humphrey, has grown from 20 original participants to more than 170 veterans enrolled this fall and growing. Students have performed well academically with 71 percent of currently enrolled student veterans maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA, and 13 percent of those maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA.
