Lipscomb University’s School of Executive Education announces its 2010 Spring Executive Series that will focus on providing business leaders with critical skills vital for today’s changing environment, John Lowry, assistant dean for the School of Executive Education, recently announced.

The series launches March 30 with “Leading in a Connected Age: Using Social Media & Technology to Get Ahead,” featuring Steven Shepard, resident director of Executive Leadership and Advanced Management Programs in telecommunications at the University of Southern California. In this presentation, Shepard will deliver methods for strategically incorporating the use of social media into a business leadership.

“The Spring Executive Series addresses several very relevant issues in business today and are bringing in national experts in these areas to share their knowledge on these timely topics,” said John Lowry. “We live in a changing business environment. The topic of social media, for example, is one that affects all organizations. What we want to do here is not to teach our business leaders how to use this technology, but how to truly understand the impact it has on their business and how to strategically incorporate it into the organization’s business plan. This series provides cutting-edge training to manage the change that is around us.”

Best-selling author and management consultant Dave Logan headlines “Tribal Leadership” on April 20. Every organization or company is a tribe, or network groups that form naturally. Logan will demonstrate to business leaders how to enhance the quality and performance of organizations one tribe at a time. The result is unprecedented impact on company culture and more effective management.

The series concludes May 13 with “Business Negotiation in a Turbulent Environment” featuring Lipscomb University president L. Randolph Lowry, founder of the number one ranked Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University and internationally renown conflict management expert. Successful business leaders understand the importance of sophisticated negotiation skills. Lowry will provide a framework for any negotiation. This course will help identify the critical moments in negotiation and give solutions for making strategic decisions that are most effective.

Each program begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 4 p.m. in Lipscomb’s SunTrust Center for Collaborative Learning in the Ezell Center. Tuition for each course is $400. For more information or to register, visit execed.lipscomb.edu or call 615.966.5951.
