School of Communication students recognized for excellence at awards competition

Lipscomb University’s School of Communication students have been recognized for their work at this year's Southeast Journalism Conference held Feb. 5-7 in Cartersville, Georgia. Twenty-nine universities from across the South participated in the conference.
Students who were Best of the South finalists were recognized for their work that was published, aired or distributed from November 2024 through November 2025. They are:
- The Bison, First Place, Best Radio Station
- Will Blackmon, Third Place (tie), Best Radio News Reporter
During the conference several individuals and teams participated in the on-site competition. Lipscomb had several finalists. They include:
- Micah Barkley, Honorable Mention, Sports News Photography
- Samuel Espinoza, Second Place, Radio News
- Kylie Kissler, Madelyn Paul and Sophia Skelton, Third Place, Public Relations Challenge
- Harold Lopez, First Place, Sports Writing
- Madelyn Paul, Third Place, Feature Photography
