Various Lipscomb and Vanderbilt University Medical Center officials gathered this fall for the exit interview, one of the last steps in the process to get the psychiatric residency program accredited.

This year marks the seventh year of the program, which transitioned from a PGY1 to a PGY2 program in the fall of 2017.

The program partners with Vanderbilt University Medical Center to provide a practice site at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital to offer training in a variety of inpatient settings as well as an outpatient indigent clinic. Dr. Lindsey Miller, associate professor, has served as the residency program director for the program since its inception.

“I am very proud of the growth this program has seen over the years and the outstanding clinicians that it has produced,” said Miller of the accreditation. “I look forward to the continued success of the program in future years.”

The psychiatric residency was one of the first established at Lipscomb due to the work Dr. Roger Davis, then dean, had done with the Tennessee Pharmacist Recovery Network.

The psychiatric residency is on one of nine PGY1 and PGY2 residencies offered through Lipscomb. To date, the program has graduated six residents who practice in a variety of settings, including academia, industry and inpatient psychiatric facilities.
