The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences presents the Langford Professor Public Lecture featuring Stephen Opoku-Duah, professor, chair of the department of chemistry and biochemistry, and Langford Endowed Professor of Chemistry at Lipscomb. His lecture with the topic, “Ongoing Water Crises in the USA: Trends, Failures and Solutions,” will be held on Thursday, February 29, 5:30-7:00 p.m., in Ward Hall.
Opoku-Duah (popularly called Dr. OD by his students) was born in Ghana, where he completed a B.Sc. degree in engineering science at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology. He obtained a M.Sc. degree in water chemistry at Wageningen University (The Netherlands) and Ph.D. from Durham University (Great Britain). For the past 29 years, Opoku-Duah has worked to become a class leading hydrologist, chemist and faculty member at the University of Ghana, Durham University, Ohio Valley University and Lipscomb University. His inspiring journey from an impoverished child to a contributing academician in his chosen field of chemistry is told in his book, Transcended: Story of an African Science Professor Changing Lives in America.
The lecture is FREE and open to the public.
