Lipscomb University’s Pizza and Politics Series presents “Truth, Truthiness, True Enough: Political Communication in the Age of Facebook” Monday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. in Shamblin Theatre, located on the university campus.

The program will include a panel discussion featuring Shaun Casey, theologian and author of The Making of a Catholic President, advisor to the Obama Campaign; Terri Merryman, award-winning reporter and anchor in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Miami, Atlanta, and Nashville; and Chris Walker, communications director for Tennessee Score and former senate, treasury, and defense communications official in the George W. Bush administration.

Linda Peek Schacht, associate professor of communication and political science, will moderate the discussion. Schacht is a veteran White House and presidential campaign official and former communication director for the U.S. Senate Majority Leader. She is also a former senior fellow with the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Participants will be able to express their opinions about health care, military engagement, the economy and communication issues through live clicker surveys. Results will be tabulated as participants vote.

The event is free. Pizza will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Sponsored by the Office of the Provost.
