Comedy scholarship_2Comedy fans from the Nashville community came to Lipscomb University’s Collins Alumni Auditorium to see Phil Wade’s Clean Comedy Show on Feb. 24. The show, co-sponsored by Lipscomb’s Black Student Union, provided plenty of laughs and enjoyment for everyone that was in attendance.

Accompanying Wade were some of the biggest names in social media comedy that included KevOnStage, Blaine the Comic and Christianee Porter. The comedy show was just one of a series of events desiring to celebrate Black History Month on Lipscomb’s campus.

While the event was filled with jokes and laughter, the highlight of the night was the award of an $1000 donation to Jamelun Crutchfield, junior and member of Lipscomb’s Black Student Union, by Phil Wade.

Comedy scholarship_1“I was very surprised and happy,” Crutchfield said. “It was such a blessing  considering my humble background and persistence through college,” she added. “It was an honor. I felt so validated by someone with such a huge platform like Phil Wade and his donation gives me even more motivation to finish my time at Lipscomb as strong as I possibly can.

Along with Crutchfield, the Collegiate 100 chapter of Lipscomb University was awarded a $1000 scholarship donation by DEN Public Relations Group.

The Office of Intercultural Development seeks to serve minority students through active mentoring, relationship building and fostering positive coping skills while providing a safe haven of belonging for students. The office also advocates for an inclusive environment for students by striving to ensure the participation of Lipscomb’s under-represented students in university life.
