Two representatives of the Peace Corps will be on the Lipscomb University campus Friday to share information with potential Peace Corps volunteers.

Dr. Paul Jhin, director of the Peace Corps Office of Planning, Policy and Analysis, and Dr. John Eaves, manager of recruitment for the Atlanta office, will be available at 11 a.m. in Allen Arena's Hall of Fame Room. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. Lipscomb is located at 3901 Granny White Pike, Nasvhille.

Jhin, a 1960 mathematics graduate of Lipscomb University, will speak to students earlier in the day during chapel.

Jhin was appointed to his current position in 2002, and is the Peace Corps liaison to the President's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans. His office provides the agency with statistical reports about Peace Corps volunteers, country status reports and updates to the volunteer handbook.

Before his appointment to the Peace Corps, Dr. Jhin served for six years as director of the National Asian Pacific Center on Aging in Los Angeles, California and as Governor Pete Wilson's representative to the California Postsecondary Education Commission.

From 1990 to 1993, Dr. Jhin served as executive assistant to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA), serving as a personal advisor and consultant to the Secretary on the formulation of broad department policies and the implementation of programs authorized by Congress and mandated by the President.  Jhin's major responsibility was to launch total quality management (TQM) initiatives in the agency.

Prior to his tenure at the VA, Jhin served as assistant superintendent for educational technology in the District of Columbia public schools from 1983 to 1990.  He also served at the U.S. Department of Education as the director of special projects and as a senior associate in the office of international education.

Jhin came to the United States in 1955 and earned an associate's degree from Freed-Hardeman University, the bachelor's from Lipscomb, a master's degree in government and international relations from New York University, a second master's degree in mathematics from Boston College and a doctorate in mathematics education from Auburn University.

During his years at Lipscomb, Jhin was president of the Alpha Rho Tau art club, the Photo Club, and was elected as Mid South Regional Director for the Collegiate Council for the United Nations. He also served as a cheerleader from 1958-60.
