New Leadership. New Programs. New Opportunities.

Hello Lipscomb family and supporters!
As I approach the end of my first year at Lipscomb, I continue to be encouraged by what lies ahead for Lipscomb Health.
We are excited to welcome the 18th president of Lipscomb University, Dr. Candice McQueen, who assumed her position on Sept. 6, 2021. Dr. McQueen is not new to the Lipscomb family, as a 1996 alumna herself, she served in previous roles as Lipscomb's dean of the College of Education and senior vice president. Dr. McQueen also served as Tennessee commissioner of education under former Gov. Bill Haslam and most recently served as the CEO of the National Institute of Excellence in Teaching, a national nonprofit founded by the Milken Education Foundation that increases educator capacity across K-12 and higher education partners in more than 21 states.
Dr. McQueen has long advocated for focusing on human capital as the primary lever for change and this philosophy is in harmonious alignment with Lipscomb Health's mantra of “Elevating the Profession, Enhancing Partnerships and Empowering People.” I am confident that the future of Lipscomb Health is very bright under Dr. McQueen's leadership.
This fall, we entered our first cohort of students in our newest program, Master of Science in Cardiovascular Perfusion. New Program Director David Webb has hit the ground running with curricular innovation, high fidelity simulation and partnerships with the health care community. I have had the pleasure of speaking with the students in the first cohort, and I am very impressed with the caliber of students Lipscomb was able to attract to our nascent program.
Finally, Lipscomb Health is expanding its scope and reach across the Nashville community. We are in active partnership discussions with other institutions of higher education in the region as well as health care facilities. Lipscomb Health is also preparing a podcast to further engage our supporters in the exciting endeavors we have planned to impact the health care industry. More details on all these efforts are forthcoming and we welcome your ideas on how Lipscomb Health can serve your individual and collective needs.
As always, thank you for your support of Lipscomb Health!
