Multicultural Affairs to host 'Evening with Justice Birch'

Lipscomb University's Multicultural Affairs Office will host "An Evening With Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Adolpho A. Birch" April 20 at 7 p.m. Birch will speak briefly then field questions from the audience, said Melodie Miller, director of the Multicultural Affairs Office. The event is free and open to the public, and will be held in Room 108 of the Swang Center for Business Administration, 3901 Granny White Pike, Nashville. Birch has served as a member of the Tennessee Supreme Court since 1993. He is the only African-American to serve as chief justice, holding that position from 1996-97. He was appointed Distinguished Jurist in Residence at the University of Memphis in 1997 and is a member of the teaching faculty for the Nashville School of Law. In 2002 was awarded the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity's top honor, the Barbara Jordan Award, for his lifetime commitment to public service.
