Lowry featured at Lipscomb's Business Leadership Council breakfast Sept. 29

The Lipscomb University Business Leadership Council presents its fall breakfast on Thursday, Sept. 29, from 7 to 8:30 a.m. in Allen Arena, 3901 Granny White Pike, Nashville. Incoming Lipscomb President, Dr. Randolph Lowry III will be the featured speaker.

Lowry is the founder and director of the nationally recognized Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution and professor of law at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. He will speak on the topic, What Keeps You Up At Night? Dealing with Difficult Moments in Business and Life. There is no charge for the event, however advanced reservations are required. Under Lowry's leadership, the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution has become the premier program of its kind in the United States, ranked number one in the country by U.S. News & World Report in its Guide to Graduate Schools. Each year, Lowry trains more than 4,000 lawyers, judges and managers in more than 25 states and several foreign countries. Organizations that have utilized his training include Nike, Lexis-Nexis, Chevron and hundreds of others.

Lowry is also a practitioner of what he teaches, regularly mediating complex cases. Such experiences range from the resolution of multi-million dollar civil cases and public policy disputes in the United States to the resolution of organizational conflict in Nairobi, Kenya. In addition, he regularly consults with public and private sector organizations on the effective management of conflict.

On November 1, 2005, Dr. Lowry will officially become the 17th president of Lipscomb University.
