Lipscomb University’s online undergraduate psychology program is designed for students seeking a flexible path to complete their degree while gaining a strong foundation for a wide range of career and graduate study options.

Offered as a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Professional Studies, the degree can be completed in 18 to 36 months, providing a flexible timeline that accommodates the needs of working adults and students returning to complete their education.

“Psychology is a field with broad application, touching nearly every aspect of daily life,” said Jaclyn Spivey, lead faculty for undergraduate psychology. “When I meet new people, I commonly hear from others, ‘I loved my psychology class!’ As humans we love learning about ourselves and others, and the ‘why’ behind the variety of things we do.”

Lipscomb’s online program is built on a comprehensive curriculum that prepares students to understand human behavior, communicate effectively and apply psychological principles in practical ways. Coursework covers core areas such as behavior, cognition, development, critical thinking and social influences, while also emphasizing the applied uses of psychology in varied professional settings.

Students are trained to think like scientists, strengthening their skills in analysis, scientific reasoning and interpersonal communication. Opportunities for research and internships are available in consultation with faculty advisors, and students may also pursue membership in Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.

Faculty play an integral role in guiding students through the program. Advisors offer recommendations on additional coursework tailored to students’ goals, whether they aim to enter the workforce after graduation or pursue further study. Recent graduates have been accepted into advanced programs in clinical mental health counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, law, physical therapy, occupational therapy and business administration.

By graduation, students will have acquired a broad knowledge base and a well-developed set of communication and interpersonal skills that can be applied across various professions. Program leaders emphasize that graduates are equipped not only for academic and professional success, but also to serve others in meaningful ways, whether in their own communities or globally.

The online psychology program offers several pathways for students to accelerate their progress. Through Lipscomb's assessment center, students can earn up to 30 credits in a one-day behavioral assessment experience that identifies competencies and provides a personalized development plan. Additional credit may be awarded for prior learning through exams or documented training, including certificates, military experience or workplace education. Students may also transfer up to 94 credit hours from previous college coursework.

Courses are structured in eight-week sessions, allowing students to maintain momentum while balancing other life responsibilities.

Program highlights include small class sizes and instruction from award-winning faculty committed to student success. The online format fosters a supportive and approachable learning community, and faculty provide dedicated guidance from enrollment through graduation to help students stay on track and reach their goals. The program also connects undergraduates to future opportunities at Lipscomb.

With flexible completion options, strong faculty support and a curriculum designed for real-world impact, Lipscomb’s online undergraduate psychology program offers students a meaningful way to complete their degree and prepare for a variety of career paths rooted in the understanding of human behavior.
