Lipscomb University’s John C. Hutcheson Gallery presents "More Works About Tables and Food," an exhibit by visual artist Rob Matthews beginning Jan. 25, and running through March 11.

Matthews kicked-off the exhibit by hosting a talk in the Hutcheson Gallery on opening night that was followed by a reception.

Matthews specializes in graphite on paper and creates masterful, intricate drawings that captivate the viewer. This exhibition showcases some of his most recent drawings.

Matthews received his MFA in painting and printmaking from the Virginia Commonwealth University and his BFA in painting from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. He is a two-time winner of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Fellowship award and also won the Pew Fellowship in the Arts award in 2009.

Matthews also has public collections showcased in the North Carolina Museum of the Arts, the Philadelphia Museum of the Arts, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the de Young Museum.

Located in the James D. Hughes Center at Lipscomb University, the John C. Hutcheson Gallery opened in fall of 2010. Curated by Lipscomb visual arts department faculty, the Hutcheson Gallery features a variety of exhibitions each semester. This gallery provides an opportunity to study, exhibit, stimulate appreciation for and advance knowledge of works of art that collectively represent the broadest spectrum of human achievement and artistic interests.

The Hutcheson Gallery is free and open to the public. The exhibit will be open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., however, hours may vary during scheduled events. The Hutcheson Gallery is best accessible from the Belmont Boulevard entrances to campus.

The Hutcheson Gallery will continue March 14, with an exhibition by American fashion designer, Halston.

Halston rose to international fame in the 1970s and redefined American fashion by employing minimalism and clean lines in his work. This exhibition will showcase the Halston Special Collections featuring media, artwork and fashion displays, which highlight the famous American Fashion.
