LipscombCARES is the latest in a string of humanitarian efforts led by the university, including an effort to help those who lost their homes in a March 2020 tornado in Nashville.

On March 26 Lipscomb University announced an internal initiative called LipscombCARES, a coordinated effort to care for the needs of Lipscomb employees and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

LipscombCARES is the latest in a string of humanitarian efforts led by the university since it established an on-campus Red Cross shelter for the homeless after the Nashville flood in 2010. In 2017, the university created a Crowdfunding campaign to help the families of its students after three hurricanes hit U.S. soil. Recently, Lipscomb sent out a crew of employees to help a Lipscomb family who lost their home in Nashville’s March tornadoes.

The LipscombCARES Steering Team will coordinate subcommittees in these areas:

  • The LipscombCARES Prayer Team will include members of the Lipscomb community who are committed to praying regularly for the needs of employees and their families as well as our greater Lipscomb campus of students and families.
  • The LipscombCARES Pastoral Care Team will be available to fulfill emotional and spiritual needs through support and connection to resources such as conversation, suggested readings and other spiritual practices to navigate the challenges of this difficult time.
  • The LipscombCARES Benevolence Team will serve the physical and fiscal needs of the Lipscomb community by identifying resources available and connecting people to those resources. At appropriate times, this team will also make the Lipscomb community at-large aware of needs when they are positioned to assist.

A LipscombCARES email message will be sent several times a week to Lipscomb employees and will include pertinent information, spiritual thoughts, community-building opportunities, music, entertainment and more.
