Kevin Barnett, a two-time Olympic athlete and volleyball broadcast analyst for the Olympics, will be on campus this Friday, Sept. 23, for the Lipscomb volleyball game against Kennesaw State. Barnett will be doing the live broadcast for ESPN3 at 6:30 p.m. in Lipscomb’s Allen Arena.

Barnett, a United States competitor in men’s volleyball at the 2000 and 2004 summer Olympics and commentator at the Rio, London and Beijing Olympics, attended Pepperdine University with Lipscomb’s volleyball head coach, Brandon Rosenthal. While commentating this past summer at the Rio Olympics, Barnett gave Lipscomb University a shout-out during the men’s volleyball semifinals match, USA vs. Italy.

“Lipscomb is worthy of a shout-out,” said Barnett. “Brandon deserved it given his history with this program and the way he’s transformed it. It’s been cool to see where he started with the team and to be able to follow their history of success, especially in the ASUN championships and the way the school has supported the program.”

Joining Barnett at the match will be Jeremy Roueche, DJ for the LA Lakers. Roueche was in charge of all the music played during the volleyball matches at the 2016 Rio Olympics and will be doing the same at the match against Kennesaw State.

“We are very excited to have Kevin and Jeremy on campus this week,” said Rosenthal. “Both of them received international attention for their work at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and it will be a great honor to have them here at Lipscomb performing those same duties. Each one of them are considered to be one of the best of their respective industries and I believe their presence will only make the atmosphere for Friday's match against Kennesaw St. even better."
