Lipscomb University's Halston/Borghese Archives featured in Cheekwood exhibit May 14-Aug. 21

 |

Portions of the Halston/Borghese Archives housed at Lipscomb University will be on display at Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art May 14-Aug. 21.

The exhibit, Halston Fits America: Fashion and Innovation from the Collection of Lipscomb University, will feature more than 40 garments, including dozens of gowns and eveningwear ensembles, and original sketches, patterns, and photographs from the collection, maintained by Lipscomb's fashion merchandising program. American fashion designer Halston, whose clients included Jackie Kennedy, changed the fashion industry with his minimalist style. The exhibit will highlight Halston's influence on fashion over the last forty years.

The collection was donated to Lipscomb by president and CEO of Borghese cosmetics company, Georgette Mosbacher, who has family ties to Nashville. This will be the first public exhibition of the collection.

Admission to Cheekwood is $10 for adults and $5 for college students. Hours of operation are Tues. through Sat., 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Sun., 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Cheekwood is located at 1200 Forrest Park Drive, Nashville, near Percy Warner Park.
