The Lipscomb University community observed Patriot Day on Sept. 11 with a special ceremony to remember those who were injured or died during the terrorist attacks in the United States on Sept. 11, 2001.

At 7:30 a.m. on the steps of the Allen Bell Tower the community gathered for a 9/11 observance. The program included a short reading of the major timeline events of Sept. 11, 2001, followed by a prayer for the families and continual healing of the nation and then a moment of silence for the approximately 3,000 who lost their lives on that date. The observance ended with a bell toll of 11 rings representing the date at 7:46 a.m., which marks the time (8:46 a.m. EST) that the first plane flew into the World Trade Center.
