Lipscomb University has been named a top university for lifetime return on investment by Affordable Colleges Online, a leading national resource for college affordability and financial aid information. Lipscomb was ranked eighth out of 185 Tennessee colleges analyzed for the ranking.

ROI badge“The value of a report like this is that it reflects the value of an investment in a Christian education,” said Rick Holaway, senior director of admissions at Lipscomb University. “We try to stress the importance of not just looking at the short-term payments that parents make for their student’s education, but more at the long term benefit of that investment. The long term benefits include the spiritual formation of the student and the relationships they build and the experiences that they have in addition to the fact that our graduates are very successful at finding jobs. The investment isn’t just about the tuition cost, it’s about investing in a student spiritually, socially and intellectually.”

The Affordable Colleges Online ranking included public and private, fully accredited institutions that are four-year, degree-granting institutions that had a return on investment according to PayScale’s 2013 College Value Report. An institution’s tuition and fees in addition to graduates’ average starting salaries and return on investment calculation were primary criteria evaluated for the ranking. Information was collected from the National Center for Education Statistics, the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, the Carnegie Foundation and PayScale. “Graduates from these schools enjoy the largest earnings gap between non-degree holders over 30 years, and earn more on average than graduates from other Tennessee schools,” said Dan Schuessler, Affordable Colleges Online founder. “These are important lists for prospective students to consider. We’ve sifted through comprehensive data sources to find colleges and universities in Tennessee that offer a high quality education with consistent, long-term payoffs in the workplace.”
