The Lipscomb University Landiss Lecture Series hosts Silas House

House was chosen as one of the South's "ten emerging writers" by the millennial gathering of writers at Vanderbilt University. Clay's Quilt, his first novel, was called the "perfect" novel by USA Today, was nominated for the Southeastern Booksellers "Book of the Year" and was a BookSense pick. The paperback edition of the book is now going into its fourth printing.
His second novel, A Parchment of Leaves, debuted as a top ten BookSense pick, became a national bestseller, was the Kentucky Book of the Year and was nominated for the William Sayoran International Literary Prize. Most recently, House was honored by a special achievement award from the Fellowship of Southern Writers and the fiction award from the National Society of Arts and Letters.
House is a frequent contributor to NPR's All Things Considered. He lives in Lily, Kentucky, with his wife and two daughters and until recently, was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. His third book, The Coal Tattoo, is due for release in March.
