Lipscomb University will host the 2nd Annual Forum of the Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee (EDCT) on April 8-9 in the Axel Swang Center for Business Administration, 3901 Granny White Pike, Nashville, Tenn.  The conference is free for Lipscomb students, employees and families with registration required along with proof of I.D.

This year's forum, entitled "Disordered Eating: Conversations with the Professionals" will begin Friday at 7 p.m. in Swang 108 with "Eating Disorders: Identity, Narcissistic Needs and Spirituality" featuring keynote speaker Craig Johnson, Ph.D. Johnson will address the broad spectrum of issues related to the treatment and prevention of eating disorders including the latest in genetic research, said Tracey Rathbone, executive director of The Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee. Tickets for Friday's session are free to Forum attendees and $5 at the door for the general public.  All proceeds will benefit the EDCT.

A Pre-Forum Case Study Training will also be offered Friday night to advanced professionals seeking a unique learning experience in a small group setting that is facilitated by leading experts in the field, said Rathbone.  The cost for the case study is $150 and professionals are invited to pre-submit cases for consideration. Graduate students can pay a reduced rate of $75 to "sit in" on this learning opportunity.

Saturday's activities will begin at 7:45 and will include a keynote address by Johnson and breakout sessions. Breakout sessions will be coordinated by the following presenters: Ovidio Bermudez, M.D., Ralph Carson, Ph.D., RD, LRD, Kimberli McCallum, M.D., Karen Silien, Ph.D., Reba Sloan, MPH, LRD and Carolyn Cochrane, Ph.D. These sessions will focus on diagnostic issues, issues related to bariatric surgery, medical assessment of eating disorders, body image and disordered eating.
