Lipscomb University to host financial aid workshop

 |

Lipscomb University will host a free workshop on how students may receive their share of $42 billion in student financial assistance Jan. 17 in Collins Alumni Auditorium, located at 3901 Granny White Pike, Nashville.

Refreshments begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the workshop at 10 a.m.

The workshop is free. The session is open to all high school students and their parents regardless of which colleges they are considering. Everyone is invited to attend.

Featured at the workshop will be Ron Gambill, president of EdSouth Funding.

Each year the United States Department of Education makes $42 billion in financial assistance available to college students and their families through grants, loans and other programs. Students and parents will learn how to access these resources at this free workshop.

New to this year's program, participants will hear important information about the Tennessee HOPE scholarship and how to qualify for it.

Other topics of interest include: How can students and their parents find ways to pay the costs of higher education? How does the financial aid process work? What programs are available to assist in paying college costs? When is the best time to start the process? An overview of the specific application procedures required for all students.

For more information, call 269-1791 or 800-333-4358, ext. 1791.

**In the event of inclement weather, the workshop will be rescheduled for Jan. 24, 2004.
