Pedro Franco and David Collao join Scott W. Gilmer, director of international student services and transfer admissions, at Lipscomb's "Signature Day". Franco and Collao are from Peru but did not know each other until coming to Lipscomb as freshmen this year.

Going home for Christmas? For some students at Lipscomb University, going home means taking a trip around the world. With international students from around the globe, Lipscomb students will be traveling to places like Japan, Jamaica, Korea, Laos, Peru, Colombia, and the United Kingdom for the holidays.

To prepare them for their travels, Lipscomb University held its first "Signature Day" on Thursday, Dec. 9. Recognizing Lipscomb's growing global student population, international students celebrated the season with food and fellowship. In addition, the day provided an opportunity for the students to check their student status and have their travel documents "signed" by a school official before traveling during the holiday season.

"International students are very important to Lipscomb University," said Scott W. Gilmer, director of international student services and transfer admissions. "They contribute to the diversity of our campus and allow American students to meet people from around the world while sharing their cultures and views. It allows Lipscomb to carry out our mission on a global scale."

Lipscomb currently hosts international students from over 30 nations around the world.
