Lipscomb University Campus Ministry Yard Sale for Charity Nov. 13

 |

Lipscomb University's Campus Ministry will host a yard sale to raise money for the Green Street Church of Christ Homeless Ministry Nov. 13 from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the soccer field parking lot, located on the Belmont Boulevard side of campus. The campus is located at 3901 Granny White Pike, Nashville.

The yard sale is a challenge from George Goldman, assistant professor of Bible,  to encourage students to become less worldly and more spiritual. Goldman sold the shirt off his back to demonstrate his commitment to the challenge.

"A good way to show that we are not bound to our material possessions is to sell something that we perceive as valuable to help those who have more fundamental needs," said Goldman.

Directed by David Clayton, Campus Ministry's mission is to convince every student they are called to disseminate the message of God's love to the world, no matter what discipline of study they pursue or what vocation they choose.

"It is not just about the money, but also the command we are given by Jesus to not be ruled by our possessions," said Clayton.

Proceeds will go to buy food, blankets, clothing and toiletries for the Green Street ministry. For more information, call 279.7004 or 800.333.4358, ext.7004.
