The Lipscomb University Board of Trustees has appointed three new members, board chair Richard G. Cowart has announced. The new appointees are Anna Grizzle and Dr. Raye Mitchell, both of Nashville and Joey Hogan of Chattanooga.

“These three individuals bring deep experience, servant leadership, and a commitment to Lipscomb’s mission that will make an immediate and lasting impact,” said Cowart, chairman emeritus of the Baker Donelson’s Health Law/Government Relations & Public Policy department. “They have demonstrated excellence in their fields and in their service to others. We are grateful for their commitment to Christian education and for their willingness to help guide the future of Lipscomb University.”

Grizzle, a partner at Bass, Berry & Sims in Nashville, has more than two decades of legal experience focused on health care compliance and enforcement. A nationally recognized attorney, Grizzle represents hospitals, health systems, hospices, and other providers in complex regulatory matters. She is certified in healthcare compliance and has received numerous accolades, including recognition in Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, and Super Lawyers. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University.

Mitchell, a Nashville native and long-time supporter of Lipscomb, is a retired orthopedic surgeon who most recently served veterans through the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. A Lipscomb alumnus, Mitchell earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee and completed his surgical training at the Campbell Clinic. He has held numerous leadership roles in the medical field, including chief of surgery at Washington Regional Medical Center and team physician for the Arkansas Razorbacks. He and his wife, Elise, have created the Mitchell Family Endowed Scholarship at Lipscomb and are active mentors for students pursuing health careers.

Hogan, a Lipscomb graduate with a degree in accounting, served as president of Covenant Logistics Group in Chattanooga for 15 years and currently sits on its board. He began his career as a CPA with Arthur Andersen before holding leadership roles at several public companies including Chattem, Inc. Hogan and his wife, Joy, are deeply engaged in their community and support multiple nonprofit organizations. Two of their children are fourth-generation Lipscomb students.

Lipscomb University President Candice McQueen praised the appointments as a significant addition to the board’s strength and vision.

“Anna, Joey and Raye to Lipscomb’s Board of Trustees are significant additions to the board and we are honored that they want to serve the institution in this way,” said Lipscomb President Candice McQueen. “Each brings a unique perspective, a deep connection to Lipscomb and a strong commitment to our mission to prepare students for lives of purpose through transformative experiences in our Christ-centered community. Their leadership and vision will help shape our bold future.”
