Lipscomb University Alum Jim Jinkins Creates New Children's Series - HoopDogz

 |

For more than 15 years, Lipscomb University alum Jim Jinkins ('75) and David Campbell have been partnering to produce some of today's most popular children's programming including Doug, JoJo's Circus, Stanley, and P.B. & J. Otter.

Now they are launching their first faith-based creation - HoopDogz, a series which goes beyond imparting generally-accepted values to teaching kids to live by the biblical rules provided in the Ten Commandments.

"While we love what we've been doing through secular television, our mission and vision has always been to help today's kids understand biblical truths in a way that is entertaining, funny, and never too preachy," Jinkins said.

"And if we entertain parents along the way, it's not just a 'bonus,'" Campbell added. "It's intentional. We want to provide the whole family perspective in a voice contemporary enough to appeal to the modern generation.

"Today's kids - even as young as two and three - have very sophisticated tastes in entertainment, because the quality of animation has improved so much in recent years.  We want to create and produce shows that compete on that level in the Christian space," Jinkins concluded.

Featuring a family of animated dogs who lives in an inner-city neighborhood called Wobble Hill, HoopDogz follows the antics of VJ Bumbus and his friends as they shoot hoops on the court behind the HoopDogz diner, learning valuable lessons along the way. These lessons just happen to be more-often-than-not unintentionally taught by Chad Dimple and Rebecca Ruth St. Esther Eve, the hapless hosts of local TV show.

The first episode in the series, God Good, Idols Bad, is set to release in Christian bookstores Oct. 16.
