Lipscomb University again named a Great College to Work For, one of only two in Tennessee
Lipscomb among approximately 2% of institutions nationwide earning recognition

Lipscomb University has once again been named one of the best colleges in the nation to work for by the Great Colleges to Work For® program, one of the country’s largest and most respected workplace recognition programs.
This year, Lipscomb is one of only 76 universities in the nation and one of only two in Tennessee achieving “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies, with only 2% of institutions across the country having this prestigious designation. Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions, with Lipscomb included among medium universities with 3,000 to 9,999 students. This marks the second time Lipscomb has been named a Great College to Work For, following its first recognition in 2024.
“Being recognized again as a Great College to Work For is especially meaningful because it reflects the experiences and perspectives of our faculty and staff,” said Lipscomb President Candice McQueen. “Our people are at the heart of who we are as a university and how we fulfill our mission each day. I am particularly proud that supervisor and department chair effectiveness continues to be recognized as a strength. Strong leaders create environments where people feel supported, valued and equipped to do their best work, and that ultimately strengthens the experience we provide for our students.”
Universities were measured in 10 categories: Compensation & Benefits; Confidence in Senior Leadership; Inclusion, Belonging & Community; Faculty Experience; Faculty & Staff Well-being; Job Satisfaction & Support; Mission & Pride; Professional Development; Shared Governance; and Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness. This year, Lipscomb was recognized in the Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness category, which reflects employees’ experiences with their immediate supervisors and measures key leadership competencies, including providing clear direction and constructive feedback, effective communication and equitable treatment. It is the second time Lipscomb has earned recognition in this category.
The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captures employment data and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.
“This year’s recognized institutions know that institutional success is not possible without the positive impact of their people,” said Richard K. Boyer, chief culture strategist at ModernThink, which administers the program. “They understand the success of their students is tied to the experience and success of their faculty and staff.”
This is the latest in a series of national accolades for Lipscomb as the university continues to strengthen its reputation as a top-tier, nationally recognized Christian university. Earlier this month, Lipscomb made its debut in TIME’s inaugural America’s Best Colleges list and was named a Top 20 Best Christian College in the Nation by Niche. Lipscomb recently earned a four-star rating in Money’s 2026 Best Colleges for the second consecutive year, was named a 2026-27 College of Distinction, was included in Forbes’ 2026 Top Colleges rankings and was recognized by Phi Theta Kappa for excellence in serving transfer students for the 10th consecutive year.
