Lipscomb toasted as among the best universities in Nashville

Janel Shoun |

It’s official…

Lipscomb University is the toast of the town.

Lipscomb was among the top three vote-getters in the Tennessean’s annual Toast of Music City reader poll, soliciting the public’s opinion on everything from favorite Nashville blog and DJ to favorite chiropractor and car repair.

Lipscomb University came in second in the Best College of University category, with Vanderbilt University taking the number one spot and Nashville State Community College coming in third.

“Readers voted 215,000 times in the 2nd Annual Toast of Music City contest at www.toastofmusiccity.com. This year, we encouraged online voters to add comments when they cast their ballots, and they had 10,800 bits of praise to share,” wrote Knight Stivender, senior editor for the Tennessean in the Toast of Music City issue.

“You didn’t have to be famous to take home a plaque. The majority of winners are hometown businesses and people,” Stivender wrote. “Nashville does love Nashville, and to that – we toast.”

“It’s certainly exciting to know that Nashvillians have such a high opinion of our university,” said President L. Randolph Lowry. “Everyone at Lipscomb works hard each day to make our Nashville community a better place through education and community service, so it provides a great boost to know that the community is recognizing that and appreciating our hard work. It’s only through the excellent efforts of all our staff, faculty and students that we could achieve this recognition in the community.”
