Lipscomb University students will “serve their neighbors” in Gallatin tomorrow as they help with tornado clean up efforts.

A group of Lipscomb University students will spend its day tomorrow helping tornado victims in Gallatin with cleanup efforts. A caravan of approximately 40 students, faculty and staff will gather near Lipscomb’s Allen Arena at 7 a.m. Saturday morning and will head to the Gallatin Chamber of Commerce, where they will receive work assignments.

“We believe this is something we need to do because we are trying to be the visible presence of Christ in our community. We’re just doing what we would want others do to for us if we were in a similar situation. We want to serve our community and to help equip students to be servants for life. Some students already have a passion for service. For others, opportunities like this can plant a seed of service that will be nurtured for a lifetime,” said Scott McDowell, associate provost for student development and dean of students.

Next Friday, more than 475 Lipscomb students, faculty and staff will also participate in a campus-wide service day.
