Lipscomb student tests skills on 'Deal or No Deal'

Hayley Tucker, Lipscomb University junior, is headed to L.A. on Sunday to try to beat the banker on the popular game show Deal or No Deal. She will try to beat the odds as she tests her skills and tries to find the million dollars hidden in the coveted winning suitcase.

“I got a call from a producer of the NBC game show Deal or No Deal!” comments Tucker, who came to Lipscomb from her hometown of Midlothian, Va. “She told me I would be flying out on Sunday to L.A. and we would be filming on Monday and Tuesday. What a whirlwind!!”

Though Tucker will know next week what her winning amount will be, she can’t share that information with anyone until the show airs on April 30. When asked what she might do with her winnings, she states, “The top prize is $1,000,000. Wow, that’s crazy. I will pay off my college and pay for my pharmacy school, as well as pay off my younger brother and sister's college. After that, I'm not sure.”

Tucker’s family will be traveling from Virginia to be with her on the show. Both of her parents along with her 17-year-old brother and 11-year-old sister will be on stage helping her decide whether or not to take the deal.

Tucker was chosen for the show after going to an open casting call in Richmond, Va., last July. “I got a call back and filled out a larger application and spent 20 minutes in a one-on-one taped interview with a casting director,” she states. “Then I played a mini-mock game with my supporters on tape. Somehow I got contacted now, 7 months later!”

Tucker’s classmates wish her well and hope she remembers them if she comes back with a million dollars.
