Lipscomb senior David Sulpy has been named as one of the top three information technology students of the year by the Nashville Technology Council. As an award finalist in the 2009 “Feel the Beat” Technology Awards, Sulpy was recognized for his achievement in his field, his demonstrated leadership and his community impact. Sulpy, an information systems major from Snellville, Ga., serves as the vice president of membership for the T3 initiative, or Turning the Tide of Technology.

“T3 is an initiative to help spawn interest in technology in undecided students as well as help them connect with the right people for the advancement of their careers,” Sulpy said. “It was founded as a solution to the growing lack of a university educated tech work force in Nashville. The T3's overarching goal is to increase the amount of university graduates in computing fields and their interest in current technology to match the growing trend of tech jobs in Nashville, therefore stabilizing the tech workforce infrastructure to make it feasible for organizations with tech needs to move to and do business in Nashville.”

The Nashville Technology Council, an affiliate of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, and platinum sponsor XO Communications hosted the “Feel the Beat” Technology Awards Gala on Oct. 27 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The purpose of this event was to highlight those individuals and companies that have worked extremely hard to help grow Nashville and the surrounding areas into a hub for technology.  Lipscomb University was one of 17 finalists for the Technology Organization of the Year award.
