Lipscomb University’s Student Government Association presents its fall concert featuring Americana rock band Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors, Friday, Sept. 30 at 5:30 p.m. on the Allen Bell Tower lawn.

Part of Lipscomb’s annual Family Weekend, Lipscomb’s SGA encourages the community to bring blankets, chairs and friends to enjoy the free outdoor concert.

Alternative folk band The Arcadian Wild, which is made up of current and former Lipscomb students Lincoln Mick, Sarah Wood and Isaac Horn, will kick-off the show at 5:30 p.m. followed by Brother Parker, which is made up of Lipscomb students and brothers John Blake, Grant and Hudson Parker, at 6 p.m. Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors will perform at 7 p.m.

Selling over 100,000 albums to date and touring alongside acts such as The Avett Brothers, NEEDTOBREATHE, Ryan Adams, Los Lobos and more, Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors is an Americana rock band consisting of Drew Holcomb (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica), Nathan Dugger (guitar, keys) and Rich Brinsfield (bass), with Holcomb’s wife, Ellie Holcomb joining on vocals.

Hailing from Memphis and East Nashville, Tennessee, the band has sold out shows in seven countries, and its music has been used in countless television shows and commercials. The most noteworthy commercial to date includes TNT’s Emmy Award-winning 2011 NBA Forever spot that featured their song “Live Forever” over a montage of past and present NBA video footage.

Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors have released seven studio albums that have topped several charts including Billboard’s top 200 along with other Billboard charts: Folk Albums, Indie Albums, Internet Albums, Rock Albums and Top Current Album Sales.

"I'm so excited to see Drew come out and put on a show not only for our students but also for their families and the community,” said Jackson Smith, SGA president. “It's not everyday that you get to see students as talented as The Arcadian Wild and Brother Parker and especially acts as big as Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors in our own backyard."

Carter Hilliard, chair of the SGA Social Committee, echoed Smith’s sentiment saying, "We are so excited to have Drew perform on campus. Our student body enjoys his music, and we hope to create a really cool atmosphere to help kick off Family Weekend.”

Josh Roberts, dean of student life, says Friday’s concert is one of the biggest outdoor concerts in university history and loves to see current and former Lipscomb students share in opportunities such as sharing the stage with a well-known and respected band like Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors.

"Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors have been synonymous with Music City for years,” said Roberts. “There may not be a better band in the country right now that is committed to producing great music that is also full of heart and soul.

"Our students know good music because our students make and produce phenomenal music of their own. Having Drew Holcomb perform is a great opportunity for our students to gain a front row seat to one of Americana music's 21st century pioneers.”
