Lipscomb offers students voter registration opportunities

Chris Pepple |

On Sept. 12th and 19th Lipscomb students will have the opportunity to register on campus to vote in Davidson County. The Nashville Election Commission will have representatives on campus from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Bennett Campus Center to register eligible voters.

“We are hosting this event because it is our goal to get students involved in the election process,” said Garner Goode, director of student involvement.

“It’s very important that we get a whole new generation interested in the political process. If we don’t have young people voting, we are in trouble. And it is really crucial that Christians be involved in the political process,” said Beth Harwell, Tennessee State Representative for District 56 and Republican Finance co-chair for the John McCain presidential campaign in Tennessee. Harwell will be teaching a course at Lipscomb this fall called U.S. Political Parties and Elections.

When is the next election?

The Federal and State General Election will be held on November 4, 2008.
