Lipscomb University and Nashville State Community College have reached an agreement to create a seamless pathway for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in pre-pharmacy, with the potential to continue into Lipscomb’s Doctor of Pharmacy program. The agreement was celebrated during a signing ceremony on Nashville State’s White Bridge Road campus on Feb. 5.
Under the agreement, Nashville State graduates who complete an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Pre-Health Professions, with pre-pharmacy emphasis, and meet the established course requirements will be able to transfer seamlessly into Lipscomb’s Bachelor of Science (B.S.) program.
“Nashville State has been a strong partner with Lipscomb for many years,” said Lipscomb President Candice McQueen. “This new pathway builds on that collaboration, creating a seamless pathway into our pharmacy program, expanding opportunity, accelerating student success and directly meeting critical workforce needs in pharmacy and health care across Middle Tennessee.”
Nashville State Community College’s president, Shanna L. Jackson, applauded the agreement.
“Helping students see what’s possible and giving them a clear flight path to get there is at the heart of our mission at Nashville State,” said Jackson. “Our continued collaborations with Lipscomb University expand the opportunities available to our pre-pharmacy graduates and improve opportunities as they take the next steps toward meaningful careers.”
By providing a reliable and adaptable pathway for future pharmacists, this agreement underscores both schools' shared commitment to student success.
Lipscomb’s College of Pharmacy is located in Nashville, Tennessee, the nation’s health care capital. In addition to the Doctor of Pharmacy degree, the college offers Master of Science degrees in anesthesiologist assistant studies, health care informatics and pharmaceutical sciences, and dual-degree options for Pharm.D. students to earn one of these master’s degrees concurrently. The college also partners with Vanderbilt University for a Pharm.D.-to-Ph.D. Pathway program, providing a direct pipeline to a clinical pharmacology Ph.D.
