Lipscomb mourns the loss of freshman Liz LaVelle

Lipscomb student Liz LaVelle, a 2009-2010 freshman from Germantown, Tenn., was killed in an auto accident as she was traveling to Nashville from the Memphis area on Wednesday.
 
Lavelle, 20, a 2009 graduate of Memphis’ Harding Academy, is the daughter of David and Jenny LaVelle of Germantown, Tenn.
 
The funeral will be held Saturday, July 31, at 4 p.m. at Harding Academy, 1100 Cherry Road in Memphis.  Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. at Harding Academy.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of this bright young woman who was loved by so many,” said Lipscomb President L. Randolph Lowry. “In addition to her family members, Liz had many friends in our Lipscomb community. Our prayers and deepest condolences go to her family and friends as they deal with this sudden and tragic loss.”
 
Lavelle’s father David is on the board of Harding Academy and is an orthopedic surgeon at The Campbell Clinic. LaVelle has an older sister Kate, and her brother, Dan, is a 2010 Lipscomb graduate and is presently enrolled in graduate studies in counseling. He was recently married to a 2009 Lipscomb graduate Leslie Romeu.
 
LaVelle was on her way to Nashville to visit them.
