Lipscomb mourns the loss of board member, friend Pete Gunn

gunn_1Pete Gunn, member of the Lipscomb University Board of Trustees and friend of the institution, died Wednesday morning, June 13 at the age of 75 at his home in Kentucky following a lengthy illness.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Collier Funeral Home located at 211 West 5th Street in Benton, Kentucky. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, in the chapel at Collier Funeral Home.

A 1964 Lipscomb graduate, Gunn has been a member of the board since 2007, serving on the buildings and grounds committee during that time. He was president of Morgan, Trevathan & Gunn Inc. insurance agency and a member of Family Church of Christ in Benton, Kentucky.

“Lipscomb was a special place to Pete,” said David Solomon, chair of Lipscomb’s Board of Trustees. “I am particularly grateful for his leadership, guidance and the impact he made on this university as a member of the Lipscomb Board of Trustees for the last 11 years.”

Gunn is survived by his wife Judy (Fleming ’64), daughter Amanda (’88) Chappell, son Chris (’90), their spouses and several grandchildren.
