Lipscomb to host 'Skills on the Grill'

 |

Lipscomb University social clubs and the I.C. Whitestone Foundation will host its first "Skills on the Grill" competition, Oct. 25 from 2-4 p.m. at Lipscomb's Burton Bible Building. The campus is located at 3901 Granny White Pike. However, the Burton Building is most easily accessible from the corresponding location on Belmont Boulevard. The event is designed to benefit "Diamonds in the Rough," an inner-city women's ministry whose mission is to educate and empower women with the life skills necessary to be successful in the home, career and society, said Kim Tucker, president of the Whitestone Foundation. Tucker is also a family and consumer sciences major at Lipscomb. "Skills on the Grill" will pit preachers from middle Tennessee churches of Christ against each other to see who has the best skills on the barbeque grill. Judges, comprised of faculty and staff from Lipscomb, will determine a winner. A variety of other barbeque meats will be provided to those attending. Tucker said church members are asked to bring a side dish for a "gigantic potluck social," during which will be singing and fellowship. For full information or to enter the competition, contact Tucker at 615.650.0892 or tuckerkd [at] lipscomb.edu.
