'Lipscomb Experience' travels to Hendersonville

 |

Lipscomb University is “going on the road” this year to provide alumni, teenagers, and other friends of the university a true “Lipscomb Experience.”

The "Lipscomb Experience" stopped in Hendersonville on Nov.15. More than 100 Lipscomb University alumni, prospective students and other friends reconnected at the event.

President L. Randolph Lowry, along with the Lipscomb University National Alumni Association, is hosting six events in five cities this fall, inviting alumni, parents and friends to learn about Lipscomb through media, personal testimony and break-out group sessions. The first stop was in Memphis on Oct. 2.

Future "Lipscomb Experience" stops include:

Those attending will have a unique opportunity to learn about the latest programs and key initiatives happening at Lipscomb by visiting several kiosks with high-end presentations focused on specific interests such as academic innovation, campus life, spiritual formation, events on campus and recent construction improvements.

Lowry will be in attendance at each event, but this is no standard collegiate meet-and-greet. Lowry will share his vision for the university. Numerous faculty, staff, and administrators will also be on-site to answer questions and address specific interests of alumni, parents and other friends of the university.

In addition, teens are invited to “experience” Lipscomb through various high-tech activities such as Wii games, iMovies and give-aways. A scholarship will be given to one lucky attendee at each Lipscomb Experience event.

“Lipscomb is an exciting place right now with facilities under construction, new graduate programs serving the entire mid-south, and enrollment of 2,744, the highest in the university’s 117-year history,” said Mark Meador, senior director of alumni relations. “We want that excitement to be shared with our alumni in their own hometowns. We believe we can accomplish that with this unique and cutting-edge series of events.”

The Office of Alumni Relations and the Office of Admissions will provide an evening that will truly be unforgettable for all of those in attendance. As the invitation states, “Leave your wallet at home and enjoy an evening on Lipscomb.”

“Everything about this event will be designed to reconnect with our alumni, as well as connect with future alumni, and provide a visual snapshot of the changes on campus and dreams of what is to come. It will be a valuable ‘experience’ that people will be talking about long after we have gone back to Lipscomb,” Meador said.
