Lipscomb chef wins cooking competition

Lipscomb University students can take pride in the food they get to eat each day, knowing that university Chef Michael Sullivan is the best around. For the second consecutive year, Sullivan has been crowned champion of the "Copper Chef" competition, which pitted the culinary crafts of10 chefs from 9 universities and colleges against each other. The champion is chosen on the basis of total points scored in three competitions -- Traditional Cuisine, Creative Cuisine and Mystery Cuisine. Sullivan won in the mystery category, was second in creative, and third in traditional. Debi St. Claire, Lambuth University, won in the traditional category. Ron Cooksey, the "mystery chef" in the competition -- a floating chef manager for Sodexho and U.S. Navy veteran -- won in the creative category. Other contestants include last year's winner, Robert Back, Ouachita Baptist University; Michael Rigot, Belmont University; Clint Killion, UT-Martin; Christina Cabanilla, Williams Baptist University; Frank Barren, Arkansas State University; Jason Barrett, Cumberland University; Warren Woodbury, Lyon College; and Debi St. Claire, Lambuth University. Participating chefs work for universities and colleges whose food service is managed by Sodexho.
