Lipscomb to bring best-selling author and leadership expert to campus for interactive summit

Lacey Klotz |

Lipscomb’s College of Business is dedicated to teaching values of servant leadership. For years it has offered a class that aligns with that of best-selling author Ken Jennings’ book, The Serving Leader: 5 Powerful Actions to Transform Your Team, Your Business and Your Community.

On Feb. 3, in a special one-day event, Jennings, founder of Third River Partners and best-selling author, speaker and active consultant in helping senior leadership teams adopt a serving-others approach, will outline his leadership methodology to local CEOs and business leaders as the featured speaker of the Serving Leader Summit, hosted by the College of Business.

During the summit, Jennings and Third River Partners will interactively guide the audience through serving leadership methods, and attendee’s will:

• Discover what makes a leader a “serving leader”;

• Explore how serving leadership can equip them to manage and lead a multigenerational workplace;

• Learn how to ignite passion and unite colleagues and coworkers around a shared goal; and

• Walk away with a new perspective and practical tools to put the serving leadership model to work, including a complimentary copy of the new edition of The Serving Leader that outlines a unique approach for ethical leadership in an age where immoral leadership is highly common.

“Nashville is home to big-name businesses such as Tractor Supply, HCA and Caterpillar Financial, among others. I am honored to bring this message to this growing community of executives and entrepreneurs,” said Jennings. “Companies with serving leader-led cultures enjoy market returns well above their peers, and that is what I am hoping to share with Music City and the mid-south.”

While on campus, Jennings will also be the featured speaker at Lipscomb’s Christian Business Leaders Breakfast Wednesday, Feb. 3 in the Paul Rogers Board Room, located in the Ezell Center. He will also engage with students at a dinner with the Presidential Ambassador Council, a special presentation at Lipscomb’s Business Chapel on Feb. 4 and a breakfast with representatives from the university’s Yellow Ribbon Program.

“We are eager and excited to bring Ken to campus,” said Ray Eldridge, interim dean of Lipscomb’s College of Business. “Ken Jennings’s best-selling Serving Leader book, along with his vision for Christian leadership, aligns with our mission for Lipscomb’s College of Business. To have Ken Jennings on campus to share his knowledge and practical insights is a unique opportunity for our students.”
