The scholarships, valued at $6,250 each, are available to incoming first-time freshmen for the 2005-2006 academic year. The edScholar program is sponsored jointly by edSouth and edAmerica, and is designed to recognize and reward outstanding students seeking higher education in
Eligibility criteria includes:
- 3.25 GPA and ACT composite of 23 or SAT of 1070
- FAFSA results demonstrating financial need
- Outstanding community service and leadership
- Submission of 250-word essay
- Completion of edScholar application
- TN resident
Scholarships are renewable for initial awardees for the next academic year if the student maintains full-time status with a GPA of 2.5 or greater.
To be considered for an edScholar scholarship, students must complete the admissions process and submit the following to the Financial Aid Department at
- The edScholar application including a 250-word essay
- Two letters of recommendation - one academic and one personal (from an unrelated party)
- Official results from the FAFSA
