Since 2002, Lipscomb University has offered adult learners an opportunity to expand knowledge and explore new ideas in an informal, noncompetitive environment through its Lifelong Learning program offerings.

Sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations, Lipscomb provides two five-week sessions each in both the fall and the spring. Classes typically meet for 90 minutes in the daytime once a week for five weeks.

On Wednesday, Jan. 24, Lipscomb’s Lifelong Learning program will kick off its spring 2018 sessions with a special reception at 3 p.m. in the Paul Rogers Board Room, located in the Ezell Center. First session classes officially begin on Feb. 5, and run through March 9, and the second session will run March 26 to April 27.

First session courses:

  • Savvy Living
  • Economics and Finance for Life
  • Genesis for Grown-ups: Genesis 1-11
  • Shakespeare Addresses Life, Friends and Culture
  • Making Your Life Write
  • God’s Word for Warriors: 10-Week Series

Second session courses:

  • The Five English Monarchs
  • Inside Criminal Minds
  • The Church: The Body of Christ, the Family of God
  • The History of TV and Film
  • American Foodways: A History of American Eating
  • God’s Word for Warriors: 10-Week Series Continued

The spring program will also include two special opportunities including “As the Page Turns” Book Club and a lunch-and-learn “Let’s Paint This Town” Art Class, as well as a Lifelong Learning on the Move trip: In the Footsteps of Lewis and Tolkien: A Tour of Ireland & England, May 9-12.

With no previous educational experience required and no grades, exams or credits offered, the program helps enable growth as well as enrich the lives of adults who have a passion for learning.

The cost is $80 per person for each class or $120 to enroll in two or more classes in one session. Some courses may require the purchase of a textbook. All suggested and required textbooks may be purchased in the university bookstore or at registration.
