Lady Bisons earn share of A-Sun regular season championship

Lipscomb Athletics |

The Lady Bisons softball team did all they could to win a championship this year.  They finished the season with a 16-6 conference record and left the rest in the hands of fate.  It seems they did enough.

The Atlantic Sun conference announced Tuesday night that the Lady Bisons ended the season as part of a three way tie for the A-Sun Regular Season Championship with conference newcomers Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate.

" I don't even know what to think right now."  said head coach Kristin Peck.  "We knew what we had to do to win and we stepped up and did it.  It felt like an eternity waiting for the final results to come in. There was no more that we could do to win the championship.

"Our players are on fire right now.  They have never won a championship and they are excited.  This is going to be something that our players are going to remember forever and nobody can take this away from them but we want to go to follow it up with a trip to NCAA Tournament.  We've only got a few more days to prepare before we head to Florida. "

The Lady Bisons earned the number one seed in the 2008 Atlantic Sun Softball Championship and play the No. 6 seed Gardner-Webb in the first round of the double elimination tournament to be held at Patricia Wilson Field on the campus of Stetson University in DeLand, Florida.  Game time is set for 10 a.m on May 8.
