International relations expert appointed director of global learning program

Marketing and higher education veteran and global learning expert Michael Winegeart has been appointed director of global learning at Lipscomb University.
Winegeart will expand further the university’s growing global learning program and offerings. He comes to Lipscomb from Abilene Christian University’s College of Business Administration (COBA) where he was assistant professor of international business for 15 years as well as director of global initiatives and experiential learning for the college. During his tenure, Winegeart developed, branded and implemented programs for COBA including a Leadership Summit, the LEAD honors program, the global apprentice consulting program, a distinguished speaker series program, the global ambassador program and numerous academic travel courses.
“Mike comes to Lipscomb from a university with innovative academic global program development accomplishments, global market development and designations as an award-winning educator. He will help transition Lipscomb’s global learning program into a more rigorous and comprehensive program,” said Provost Craig Bledsoe.
Prior to his career in higher education, Wingeart worked in marketing and product development for several international companies, including Eastman Kodak, Foster Grant Sunglasses, Fred Jones of Europe, Abbott International and Schering-Plough Corporation.
Born in Germany, Winegeart’s parents were missionaries in the cities of Frankfurt and Karlsruhe. He and his wife, Nancy, have four children: Caitlin, Lindsey, Karsten and Austin, who is a freshman at Lipscomb University. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Abilene Christian University and a Master of International Business Studies from the University of South Carolina.
