Alumni, students and faculty of Lipscomb University will come together to celebrate and participate in the events of Homecoming weekend Nov. 9-11.

To kick things off, Lipscomb University will host its third annual Lipscomb Honors: An Evening of Story and Song, on Nov. 9 during which the Lipscomb University National Alumni Association honors an alumnus with outstanding personal and professional accomplishments. Established in 2016, this award recognizes the earnest impression Lipscomb alumni leave on this world. This award marks the pinnacle of awards granted to alumni, and this event will recognize those recipients.

This event also features award-winning songwriter Mike Reid, and other top songwriters in the area, that will perform their top hits and share the stories behind them. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and the program to follow. This year’s recipients will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.

This year, Homecoming will continue to feature fan favorites such as a Bison Day, a men’s basketball game, a women’s basketball game and the homecoming musical. A wide array of reunions from the cheerleader reunion to the class of 1968 reunion will allow alumni with any college experience to feel right at home.

"We are excited because there will be an event for everyone," said Phil Ellenburg, Vice President of Alumni Relations. "It is a great opportunity for alumni of all ages to come back and reconnect. From basketball starting a new season, to reunions, to Lipscomb Honors, Homecoming is the best way to bring the Lipscomb community back together."

Join your fellow fans to cheer on the men’s and women’s basketball teams as they play Tennessee State University in Allen Arena. For all of the former Bison basketball players, a Bison basketball reunion reception will take place in the Hall of Fame room in Allen Arena on Saturday, Nov. 10.

Stephen Schwartz’s three-time Grammy and Academy Award-winning musical Godspell will be performed by students in Lipscomb University’s theatre department. The musical, directed by Scott Baker, will show from Nov. 2-3 and Nov. 9-11 The musical includes dramatized versions of well-known parables from the book of Matthew and is perfect for the whole family to come enjoy.

Whether you are celebrating your 50th reunion, your first reunion or any year in-between, the Lipscomb community encourages you to join us in celebration of Homecoming 2018.
